Supplements — Botanicals & herbal extracts

Botanical and herbal extract supplement manufacturing.

We define the botanical material, extract specification, dose and suitable format with you, then coordinate sourcing and production through specialist manufacturing partners in our European network.

The category

Start with the material, not just the botanical name.

Botanical supplement projects begin with identity: species, plant part and whether the formula uses a raw botanical or an extract. These choices shape composition, material quantity, handling and the documentation needed for the product brief.

Extract ratio, standardisation and marker-compound specifications are project-specific variables where relevant, not default category capabilities. AVENTRO aligns those requirements with ingredient suppliers and suitable specialist European manufacturing partners; we do not own a production facility.

Formulation decisions

The decisions that define a botanical formula.

One written brief connects the ingredient, formulation and manufacturing decisions.

Species and plant part
Define the botanical identity and the part used, then align supplier documents with that specification.
Raw botanical or extract
Compare the material characteristics and quantity needed for the target dose rather than treating these inputs as interchangeable.
Extract requirements
Define extract ratio, standardisation and marker-compound requirements where relevant. Exact specifications and supply are confirmed for the project.
Single or combination formula
Assess the complete blend, including ingredient compatibility, excipient needs and the intended serving.

Dosage-form options

Format suitability follows the specification.

HPMC capsules are the primary route. A powder is considered only where the material and serving make it technically suitable; not every botanical formula fits both formats.

  • 01

    HPMC capsules

Dose, bulk density and flow determine the fill requirement and practical capsule serving, with excipients considered for the actual blend.

  • 02

    Combination capsules

Multiple ingredients share the available fill volume and require a compatible blending and filling approach.

  • 03

    Suitable powders

Extract characteristics, serving size, taste, flow and hygroscopicity are assessed alongside handling and packaging needs.

Specification flow

From botanical identity to manufacturing partner.

Partner selection follows the ingredient specification, dose and format decision.

  1. 01

    Botanical identity

Species, plant part and raw botanical or extract defined against the brief.

  2. 02

    Extract specification

Ratio, standardisation and marker-compound requirements defined only where relevant to the project.

  3. 03

    Target dose

Agreed dose translated into the material quantity and complete serving.

  4. 04

    Format

HPMC capsules or technically suitable powders assessed against bulk, flow, moisture and pack needs.

  5. 05

    Manufacturing partner

Selected against the complete ingredient, format and documentation specification.

Ingredients & production

Material behaviour shapes the production route.

Assessed with suppliers and the selected partner for the specific botanical material and complete formula.

Bulk density and serving

The quantity and volume needed for the agreed dose influence capsule fill, capsule count or powder serving size.

Flow and excipients

The blend's flow properties are assessed for filling, with excipient requirements balanced against the ingredient-list brief.

Moisture sensitivity

Hygroscopicity and moisture sensitivity, where relevant, inform material handling, production and pack decisions.

Ingredient compatibility

Raw botanicals, extracts and other ingredients are reviewed together for blending, processing and packaging requirements.

Specification alignment

Identity, extract requirements and supporting documents must refer to the material actually proposed for the formula.

Partner-dependent variables

Commercial terms follow the actual brief.

No generic batch, cost or timing figures replace confirmation with suitable partners.

  • 01

    Minimum order quantity

Confirmed with the selected partner after ingredient, formula, format and pack requirements are defined.

  • 02

    Batch fit

Assessed against the brand's forecast and the partner's suitable production route.

  • 03

    Lead time

Depends on documented material supply, packaging and the agreed production schedule.

  • 04

    Unit cost

Compared on the same ingredient specification, dose, serving and pack.

Packaging

Protection and presentation specified together.

Capsule pack count or powder serving size is considered alongside the formula's project-specific moisture sensitivity and handling needs. Bottle, jar or pouch options are assessed with the selected partner rather than assumed suitable for every extract.

Closure, barrier and filling requirements form part of the brief. The pack is selected around the actual material, channel and product specification.

Quality & documentation

Document identity, quality and release requirements.

Raw-material specifications and supplier documents are reviewed against the agreed botanical identity and extract requirements. Contaminant and quality documentation, including pesticide requirements where relevant, is defined for the project; no pesticide-free or contaminant-free status is assumed. Finished-product specification and release requirements are agreed with the selected partner.

Botanical origin, organic status, marker compounds and supplier availability require project-specific confirmation. Quality systems and certifications belong to the relevant specialist manufacturing partners and are checked during selection, not attributed to AVENTRO.

Quality framework

Standards represented across our manufacturing partners.

We work with certified specialist manufacturing partners and prioritise partners operating under relevant quality and food-safety standards. Certifications are held by the respective partners; applicability is confirmed for each product and manufacturing route.

Partner standards · where applicable

  • GMP

    Good Manufacturing Practice

  • ISO 22000

    Food safety management

  • FSSC 22000

    Food safety system certification

  • HACCP

Manufacturer selection

Choosing a botanical supplement manufacturer.

Compare specialist partners against the complete specification, not a botanical category name alone.

Relevant processes for the specified raw botanical or extract and its physical properties.

  • 02

    Format capability

Blending and filling fit for the dose, bulk density, flow and chosen capsule or powder route.

  • 03

    Documentation

Ability to work to the agreed identity, extract, contaminant and quality documentation requirements.

  • 04

    Combination formulas

Process fit for compatibility and distribution of ingredients across the complete blend.

  • 05

    Packaging fit
